Experience the transforming power of music through the voices of twelve women . . .

AlcheMs is Columbus Women’s Chorus’ new a cappella ensemble. Drawing its name from the ancient science of alchemy, this group continues the mission of the chorus, to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. The AlcheMs ensemble performs contemporary popular music and jazz standards. AlcheMs will be performing at the Midwest Research-to-Practice Conference from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2003, at the Fawcett Center.

The Columbus Women’s Chorus (CWS) is a diverse group of women celebrating life through the power of music. They have been singing in and around Columbus, Ohio, for more than ten years. CWC members are varied: mothers, daughters, professional women, lesbians, wives, and more. The Chorus has performed for numerous audiences over the years and traditionally holds a spring concert prior to adjourning for the summer. This spring’s concert was “How Women Saved Civilization . . . At Home . . . In Their Spare Time,” which highlighted the significant contributions women made around the world in the 20th century. They paid tribute to activists, revolutionaries, environmentalists, humorists and craftswomen of the 20th century. For more information, visit their Web site at http://www.cwchorus.org.
