Congratulations to our 2008-2009 scholarship recipient:
James A. Habermehl
(Prince George High School)
Scholarship applications for the 2009-2010 school year will be available
in early 2009.
This year is the 9th year that the OSU Alumni Club of Richmond has awarded an annual local scholarship. In the spring of 1999, the Ohio State University Board of Trustees officially established the "Greater Richmond Virginia Scholarship Fund" as an endowed fund to provide a local scholarship for central Virginia students to attend The Ohio State University.
The monetary goal of $15,000 needed to reach endowment status was achieved in just five years, making our Club the smallest outside the state of Ohio to establish an endowed scholarship.
The annual income from the endowed scholarship is used to provide merit scholarships for undergraduate, professional, and graduate students who graduated from high schools in central Virginia. Students receiving the scholarship must be in the top 25 percent of their high school graduating class, demonstrate leadership, and be involved in school and community activities.
