We are proud to report the raffle for our scholarship fund was a complete sellout. The winner was Linda Brown of Chillicothe. Our second prize winner was Greg Wells of Creston, Ohio. Congratulations to Linda and Greg. The top seller was Frank Hirsch. We give a gracious thanks to Frank, and to all of those individuals who worked diligently raising money for our scholars.
The scholarship recipients for the 2007-2008 academic year have been chosen. There are seven upper class awards and five freshmen awards. The scholars' academic interests are varied and represent several different areas of Ross County. We are excited to announce and proud to present these scholarship winners. The lists of recipients are on our scholarship page.
Did you attend the national football or basketball championship games? Did you have a local Buckeye bash? Did you attend OSU events with other Ross County boosters? The Annual Dinner will be September 27, 2007 at the Scioto Township Hall, 164 South Watt Street, Chillicothe, OH 45601. The Social Hour is at 6:00 P.M., the Dinner at 6:30 P.M., and the Speaker at 7:30 P.M. The cost is $18 per person. Reservations are expected by September 20, 2007. Coach Jim Foster of the Lady Basketball Buckeyes is our guest speaker. You should have received an invitation in the mail. We hope all of you can come and celebrate our alma mater. We are grateful once again to Roy and Mary Ann Manning for hosting the annual football party in their home at 99 Summerhill Court, Chillicothe. The party is November 17th and starts thirty minutes before game time. The game is with the University of Michigan. If you want to attend, mail your reservation and fee ($10) to the Club (personal checks payable to The OSU Alumni Club of Ross County) or you can RSVP by calling Charles Turvy (740-703-5128) or ross@alumni-osu.org and pay at the party.
Academic Tailgate Parties are a tool to promote OSU to potential new students. Students especially seniors and their families from Ross County are invited to learn about the university and the Alumni Club of Ross County. This year's party will be held at the Ross County Service Center, 475 Western Avenue, Chillicothe, OH 45601on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7:00 P.M.
The Club has been recognized by the Ohio Department of Transportation for litter reduction efforts in participation of the ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY PROGRAM. Our next clean up date for the program will be this Fall with the date and time to be announced.
