Every year the Club has several events and activities for Club fellowship, fundraising, and to promote The Ohio State University. We do this by holding annual dinners & banquets, student recruiting events, continuing education opportunities, alumni awards programs, football reunions, networking and career connections of students, and raising money to endow scholarships for Ross County students attending The Ohio State University.
Some of our past and upcoming events include:
The Club’s annual picnic was July 29th at the home of Charlie and Deb Turvy. Approximately forty Buckeye faithful enjoyed delicious food and camaraderie. The barbecue was manned by Charlie “The Grillmaster” Turvy. Deb Turvy provided a perfect Scarlet and Gray setting that we all enjoyed. There were several of the 2006 scholarship winners in attendance mixing with senior alumni. The earliest representative was from the class of 1948. Everyone enjoyed discussing what the university was like during their time and comparing notes with the latest advancements on campus. Our common theme was the pride everyone has for our alma mater. The picnic has been an annual event for several years. We have been alternating from one of the alumni homes to other venues such as the Chillicothe Paints baseball games. Preparing for the picnic is hard work, and we thank the Turvy family for opening their home for our Club. I’m certain we will continue the tradition next summer.
Ross County Alumni hoop fans gathered at the Donatos Pizzeria on January 6, 2007 to watch OSU play the Fighting Illini of Illinois. Twenty basketball faithful watched the new freshmen phenom Greg Oden clog the inside and draw two or three defenders as our guards picked apart the Illini defense. The final score was in favor of the Buckeyes 62-44. The game was the worst home defeat for the Illini in thirty years. Everyone that came to the gamewatch was pleased with the venue, and anytime you can get together and cheer for the Buckeyes is a good time. |
