The Sacramento Valley Buckeyes take pride in their ability
to support a scholarship program for local students who have been accepted to attend the Ohio State University.
Funds for the scholarship program are generated in a variety of ways:
-
Game watch raffles of OSU merchandise
-
An annual Holiday party and Silent Auction
-
Sales of club merchandise
-
Annual membership dues
-
Individual donations (If you would like to make a tax deductible donation, click here)
During the last four years the club has raised over
$8,200 (2005 - $1,474; 2006 - $1,776; 2007 - $1,444; and 2008 - $3,551) for the fund. The amount raised in 2008 is the most we have ever raised - a new record by a wide margin! Many thanks to our supportive board, members, fans, and especially to Cyndie Klingensmith, the 2008 Holiday Mixer and Silent Auction Chairperson!
During the last two years, the
Club gave out seven scholarships totaling $6,500 to local
students who were heading to Ohio State.
Congratulations to Michael J. Hayne from Johensen High School, our 2009 scholarship recipient; and to Anastacia Roczniak from Davis, Emily Cheng from Gold Riiver, and Jillian from Oakdale, our 2008 scholarship recipients; and to Rachael Holm, Leticia Wiggins and Alexandra DeBusk, our 2007 scholarship recipients,.
How do we find students? We participate at high school college fairs, deliver information to school counselors and rely on YOU to let us know if your son or daughter or the child of a friend or colleague is interested in Ohio State. Please use the link OSU Future Students here or on our Home Page to find our more information about OSU.
If you would like to apply for consideration, please contact Joe Cain. His phone number and email address can be found on the Officers' Page.
