SEVENTH ANNUAL GOLF OUTING Sponsored By The Sarasota-Manatee Ohio State Alumni Group
GOLF COST and TEE TIME: The golf cost is $75 per person and tee time is scheduled for 8:00 a.m., with a shotgun start. Participants should plan to be at the course by 7:00/7:15 a.m., if interested in hitting range balls and putting. Please use the bag drop near the pro shop. Club rules include: shirts/blouses must have a collar, soft cleats are required, shorts can be worn (but no denim), and golf shoes are permitted in the dining area. The game will be a 4-person team scramble, permitting active and non-active golfers to feel comfortable in participating. Guidelines will be explained before beginning. HOLE IN ONE CONTEST: A two-year lease for a 2009 Ford Mustang will be awarded to any golfer who makes a hole in one on the par 3, #8 hole. The Mustang is being provided by Sarasota Ford, and represents a $14,000 value. Also, a hole in one on any of the remaining par three holes will result in the following prizes: (Hole #4- Nike Sumo Driver or irons) (Hole #11-$500 Visa Gift Card) (Hole #15-Bose Wave Music System) SPECIAL PRIZES FOR THE FOLLOWING:
RAFFLE/SILENT AUCTION/SPONSORS/DONATIONS/: Dan Jannelli is donating a set of clubs, and an Ohio State golf bag will be included. Raffle tickets can be purchased (two for $5.00) with your mail-in registration, and raffle tickets will be available at the Serenoa Golf Club on the 21st. The golf clubs and OSU bag, and many other wonderful prizes, will be raffled off following lunch. There will also be a Silent Auction that will include Archie Griffin autographed footballs, jerseys and a helmet. Many other OSU items will be available. If you are interested in being a sponsor, or making a donation, an information sheet has been included. LUNCH: Lunch will be served at 1:00 p.m. in the Club dining area. The cost will be $20.00 per person and includes tax and tip. Spouses or guests who do not golf are invited to attend. The Serenoa Dining Room can accommodate up to 110 golfers/dining guests and is known for its fine food, so please join us. The menu includes the following: Beef tips in a Burgundy sauce served over pasta, chicken Marsala, sautéed fresh vegetables, garden salad, and rolls with butter. GUEST SPEAKER: Jim Otis will be the 2009 speaker at the luncheon. Jim played fullback at OSU from 1967-69, was a consensus first team All-American selection, and was a candidate for Heisman Trophy. Jim’s record in rushing yards was impressive and remains second only to Ohio State running backs in career rushing yards per game. Jim was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 1970, was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, and played his last six years with the St. Louis Cardinals. Jim was selected to play in the Pro Bowl in 1975.
