OSU Mansfield sets winter enrollment record
At their February 22 meeting the OSU Mansfield Board of Trustees reviewed record setting enrollment figures for winter quarter. OSU-Mansfield Dean Dr. Evelyn Freeman says there are 1,533 students enrolled which is a 4.6-percent increase from last year's winter quarter. Med Show designed to combat physician shortage
Experts predict shortages in the medical field over the next 10 to 20 years. In an effort to recruit new medical professionals, the OSU Medical Center has joined The MedShow. ATI owns one of Ohio’s best public golf courses
In June 2007, the Ohio State University Board of Trustees approved the gift of Hawk’s Nest Golf Club to Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI). Located in Creston, the course is one of the top public courses in Ohio. It holds Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play 2006/2007" four-and-a-half star rating, placing it among North America's 201 best public access courses. Scientists identify proteins that help bacteria resist antibiotics
Researchers have identified the role of two proteins that contribute to disease-causing bacteria’s ability to resist certain antibiotics. The findings will help scientists develop drug therapies that could target bacterial resistance at its cellular source. http://researchnews.osu.edu/archive/resistance.htm
Study looks at healing benefits of lemon and lavender in aromatherapy
A comprehensive investigation on aromatherapy failed to show any improvement in immune status, wound healing, or pain control among people exposed to lemon and lavender, two often-touted scents. Lemon did appear to enhance moods positively among study subjects. Lavender had no effect on reported mood, based on three psychological tests. Neither lemon nor lavender showed any enhancement of the subjects’ immune status. The compounds did not mitigate either pain or stress. http://researchnews.osu.edu/archive/aromathe.htm

Women’s basketball team in the NCAA Championships
Ohio State earned a number 6 seed in the New Orleans regional and will play No. 11-seed Florida State at 10:30 p.m. ET at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on Saturday, March 22 in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship. The game will be televised on ESPN2. Men’s basketball team plays in the NIT
The men’s basketball team beat UNC-Asheville (84-66) in the opening round of the NIT on Tuesday night. Success for the pistol team
Teresa Meyer, a senior on the pistol team, captured two individual national titles at the Collegiate Nationals to end her Ohio State career with seven individual titles. Seth Berglee, a junior on the pistol team, nabbed two individual national titles at the same event. These are Seth’s first titles.
Spring game to follow lacrosse
The 2008 Ohio State Spring Football game will start following the conclusion of the Ohio State men's lacrosse game vs. Denver which will also be held in Ohio Stadium. The men's lacrosse game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET. If you purchase a ticket for the lacrosse game, you can stay for the spring game.
