Spring 2005 Issue

Help us grow our Scholarship funds by inviting a friend to join Us!

Our mission statement is: To promote student scholarships, enthusiasm, loyalty, and support for The Ohio State University among Buckeye Faithful. The reasons are simple and straight forward, but the first one is the biggest reason we need your help in recruiting new members for our club. All of the proceeds from our dues and our other activities are put into scholarship endowments for Shelby County students to attend The Ohio State University. Membership has its privileges including special events such as the Spring Banquet and Annual Meeting, golf outings, tailgates, and blocks of tickets to football, basketball, baseball, and hockey games.

Dues are $20 per year or $200 for a life membership. Simply go to take the form on the back page, fill it out and send it with your check to The OSU Alumni Club of Shelby County, P.O. Box 42, Sidney, OH 45365.

With your help our club will grow and be able to assist more of our local youth in their quest to become future Buckeyes!

2005 SC OSU AC Scholarship winners!

We are pleased to announce our scholarship winners. More than 20 students applied, eight were interviewed and three were selected to receive OSU Alumni Scholarship BUCKS! Congratulations to all of our future Buckeye Alumni!

Ralph J. Stolle Academic Scholarship to The Ohio State Univerisity:

$4500 4-year renewal awarded to MEGAN MEINDERDING of Ft Loramie High School.

Shelby County Alumni Scholarship......$1000 one year
awarded to JOSEPH STAUDT of Lehman High School.

Alumni Scholars Program Scholarship....$600 one year
awarded to ERIN PARTIN of Jackson Center High School.

All applications were reviewed in February by a committee consisting of William Joslin ('72), Joy Aufderhaar ('98) and Larry Kleinhans ('62). On the day of the interviews, students were greeted at the OSU Extension office door by Roger Bender ('74) and interviewed by Joy Aufderhaar ('98), Tony Bornhorst ('79) and Jerry Meyer ('75).

Thanks to all alumni who helped recruit applicants and assisted with the selection.

We continue to seek new sources of scholarship fund contributions and ask all present Buckeye Alumni to assist us in the growth of our endowment for deserving students."
