We completed our interviews Sunday, February 12 for the Alumni Scholars Program (ASP) Scholarship, the Shelby County Alumni Scholarship Award, the Ralph J. Stolle Academic Scholarship and Emerson Climate Technologies/Copeland Scholarship to The Ohio State University.
Twenty-six applications were reviewed in February by a committee consisting of William Joslin (‘72), Joy Aufderhaar (‘98) and Larry Kleinhans (‘62). Nine candidates were interviewed. Students were greeted at the door by Roger Bender (’74) and interviewed by Jayne Smith (‘95), Paul Workman (‘61) and Larry Kleinhans (‘62).
As usual, our selection committee thoroughly enjoyed meeting the outstanding young people destined to become Ohio State University students.
Committee rankings of the nine interviewed candidates were forwarded to The Ohio State University along with the total of twenty-six applications received. The top ranked candidate should receive the Ralph J. Stolle Academic Scholarship, the second rated the Shelby County Alumni Scholarship Award, and the third rated student should receive the Emerson Climate Technologies/Copeland Scholarship, and the fourth rated should receive the Alumni Scholars Program (ASP) Scholarship.
As in past years, we appreciate the opportunity to rank candidates, but recognize Ohio State University makes the final selections.
A huge ‘Thank You’ to Bill Andrews for his dedication and persistence in encouraging his employer, Emerson Climate Technologies/Copeland, to support our youth. The Emerson Climate Technologies/ Copeland Scholarship Endowment Fund was established in 2006, by the Board of Trustees of The Ohio State University in accordance with the guidelines approved by the Board of Directors of The Ohio State University Foundation, with a gift from Emerson Climate Technologies.
The annual distribution from this fund shall provide non-renewable scholarships to entering first-year students from Shelby County, Ohio who rank in the top 10 percent (10%) of their high school class. Scholarship recipients shall be selected by the Office of student Financial Aid.
