About Our Club
Who We Are
We are the Ohio State University Alumni Club of Southwest Florida. Our local club is one of over 200 official Alumni clubs throughout the world. With over 1000 Buckeyes currently living in SW Florida, our goal is to bring together Buckeyes living in, as well as visiting Southwest Florida. We do this through our community service projects, our annual golf outing, our annual meeting, and our weekly football game watch parties. This is capped off by the football tailgate,3 hours prior to the kickoff of the OSU- Michigan game, in the Ale Mary’s parking lot.
We raise money for our scholarship fund. We do this by selling raffle tickets, prize auctions, shirt and book sales, our annual golf outing, and through individual or corporate donations. We inform prospective OSU students of the opportunities that OSU offers through our involvement in the local college fairs at area high schools.
Where Does My Dues and Raffle Money Go?
A small part of the monies raised by the club goes to support the administrative costs of the club. This includes things such as prize purchases, ID/discount cards, newsletter printing and mailing, and flyers promoting our upcoming events such as the golf tournament or the book fair.
The bulk of our money, and the main reason we raise money, is to finance our scholarship fund. Established in 1996 with a gift to The Ohio State University Development Fund, the SWFL Scholarship fund is used to assist local area high school graduates with their tuition at The Ohio State University. Currently, for the 2008-2009 school year, we have awarded $10,000 to two local students attending Ohio State.
How Can I Help?
There are several ways in which members and friends can assist in raising money for the scholarship fund. The easiest way is to directly make a cash donation to our local fund. Donations are welcomed by individuals as well as corporations. You may also donate prizes to our weekly halftime raffle, or a larger item to be auctioned off during our Homecoming and Michigan raffles. Of course your weekly participation in these raffles is greatly encouraged and appreciated. Participation in the annual golf tournament is another activity in which your participation has a positive effect on our scholarship fund. Participation in our community service projects also helps bring recognition and awareness in the community to our club and our University.
The Board of you local Alumni Club challenges you to make a difference. Participate in club activities and help bring awareness to our great University. And most importantly, help us help students attended The Ohio State University and carry on the Buckeye tradition.

*Club golf shirts w/logo are $35.00 and available in white, red or black.
*We have a limited number of red with white, cool and dry golf shirts w/ logo at $40.00.
*Copies of the book, Buckeye Madness - Great Eras of Ohio State Football are $5.00 each.
