Why Should I Support the OSU Alumni Association?

I’m very proud that a number of our Club members are also members of the OSU Alumni Association (OSUAA). Some folks, however, still wonder why they should join.

First, I’d like to clear up a common misconception: you do NOT need to be an Ohio State alumnus to join the OSUAA. If you attended for fewer than 15 credit hours (including zero), you may become an associate member. If you completed at least 15 credit hours at Ohio State, you are eligible for active membership. What’s the difference? Active members have all of the benefits of membership, while associate members have a few limitations (like football tickets).

The benefits of membership are too numerous to list in the limited space of our newsletter. For a complete list, check out www.ohiostatealumni.org.

More importantly, though, is what your membership does for Ohio State: makes OSU stronger. Student scholarships and recruitment, diversity programs, the Student-Alumni Council, class reunions, career networking, Welcome Week, Homecoming, and supporting the 225+ Alumni Clubs worldwide – your membership in the OSUAA makes it all happen! The Association funds many programs to benefit current OSU students. I remember so many of the events I attended as a student just a few years ago being sponsored in part by the Alumni Association. According to our 1973 Constitution, our Club was formed to promote the interests of The Ohio State University and closer fellowship among the alumni and former students of The Ohio State University. We are inextricably linked to the OSUAA and its mission: to connect alumni, students, and friends in lifelong support of Ohio State and each other.

Cheers and Go Bucks,
